Beirut is the capital and largest city of Lebanon. Our thoughts are with the people of the city after a massive explosion shook the city’s port and surrounding areas on August 4, 2020. The explosion — which currently has an unknown cause — was followed by an intense shock wave that shook buildings and shattered windows for miles. Reports said it was felt as far away as Cyprus (roughly 180 miles (290km) away).
