Atacama Large Millimeter Array

The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) is a collection of radio telescopes in the Atacama desert of northern Chile. Completed in 2013 with 66 12-meter (39 ft), and 7-meter (23 ft) diameter radio telescopes, the facility aims to provide insights on star birth during the early universe and detailed images of planet formation.
