In honor of the 200th birthday of Louis Vuitton, the brand selected 200 artists from around the globe to create a piece on the iconic, Louis Vuitton trunk. For our piece, our founder Benjamin Grant created a Timelapse animation projection mapped on to the shape. The piece was displayed in all Louis Vuitton store windows across the world on November 2, 2021.
Here is Grant's description of the project:
Building on my work where I use multiple satellite images to show the passage of time, I overlaid a high-resolution scane of a map of Paris from the 1820's with a recent satellite composition of the city. Stopping at various famous landmarks, including Louis's first store, you fly above and through the city to examine just how much changed since his birth. Above all, the story speaks to the legacy and longevity of the Louis Vuitton brand, which has evolved within and alongside a simultanesouly, ever-changing Paris for all of these years.
